Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of drill variation training on the overhand serve defense ability in volleyball. This research uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method. Participants consist of 20 students from SMA Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments of overhand serve defense ability. The statistical analysis was performed using SPSS. The results showed a significant difference in pre-test and post-test scores (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). The mean score increased from 30.35 to 47.85, indicating a 57.7% improvement. The homogeneity test confirmed that the data variance was consistent. Drill variation training significantly enhances overhand serve defense ability in volleyball players. Coaches and trainers can implement this training method to improve athletes' defensive skills.
